I love working on anything electronic or mechanical. I built a radio Nuts and bolts, welding, fabricating, making engines sing is so satisfying.
My first job was an electronics shop assistant when I was 16. I worked at Expert Electronics a TV, radio and other equipment repair assistant. This was back in the vacuum tube and picture tube days before LCD displays. I learned how to fix record turntables, tape decks, radios and TVs. I did the simple stuff and learned from Joe who was a radar tech in the Navy. I carried around the tube case.
Sometime later..
I then started messing around with cars in the 70s, first car was a 1959 VW Type 1 a 6 volt system that I put an 8 track tape deck in with a 6 to 12 converter. Gotta have tunes when you’re a teen. Next was a Fiat 850 spyder that the floor and rocker panels rusted out, I ended up chopping it in half with an axe and stuffed in the back of my next car, a 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon and taking it to the dump.
What a trip…more about stuff later.
